5 Ways a Frugal Life Can Boost Your Happiness

5 Ways a Frugal Life Can Boost Your Happiness

Being frugal is a thing now isn’t it? It’s not a bad thing though. Saving money by couponing, reusing or even re-purposing old items, or growing your own fruits and vegetables is great. I’ll admit, I’ve been using more online coupons and discounts than my younger self will allow me to admit. I’ve reused grocery bags as trash bags or even doggie bags. I’ve re-purposed old shirts into car washing rags. I’ve even grown wonderfully delicious fruits and vegetables in my backyard. I am not a go-all-frugal-or-nothing type of girl though. I still splurge a little here and there but it’s always nice to take a minimalist approach. I dare venture to say living a  frugal life can improve your happiness in more ways than one.

A Frugal Life can Boost your Happiness by:

1.     Becoming More Appreciative of What you Have

We all remember what we are grateful for on Thanksgiving, but we should be more appreciative of what we have year around. Even to be able to have the option to practice frugal living is a luxury. We should be thankful for all the resources available to us and make the best use out of them as possible not just for ourselves but for others as well. Being grateful can

2.     Becoming More Creative with What you Have

Creativity is a wonderful thing – to be able to come up with something out of nothing is sheer amazingness. Better yet, creating something from something else is genius. So instead of throwing out an item, consider re-purposing an item for a completely different use. Like beautiful buttons re-purposed into earrings or old doors repainted and made into a bed head board. Putting your creativity to a project puts the mind into a period of flow, where nothing else seems to matter and time just flies by as you create your masterpiece. Pure bliss!

3.     Becoming More Social with People Around You

With a quick search online, you can discover many local couponing club or frugal living class that will open the doors for you to meet similar people who share the same interests. Even gardening can present the opportunity to become more social as you discover other people who like to garden and start sharing gardening tips, recipes, and more. Engaging in different types of conversation and socializing can give an extra boost to your well-being.

4.   Becoming More Knowledgeable and Sharing  with Others

All of us are experts at something, if we are lucky enough someone will eventually want to learn about the subjects we know a little something about. How to be frugal and how to save money are topics many people would like to learn more about. People are searching every day for practical advice and tips that will help them save money and maybe at the same time, live a simpler life. Learning something new and sharing it with others is a great way to increase enjoyment out of life.

5.     Becoming More Kind to those Around You

One of the reasons people like being frugal is because they are able to save money. Being frugal is a great opportunity to take some of the money you saved and show kindness to others who might not have as much. You can make a donation to your favorite charity or give that money to a family in need in your community. Being kind to others brings back kindness to your own heart.
